Miray Gökkaya
I am a PhD student in SFB 1760 Silence, Noise and Signal in Language as part of the Project A01 Silent Subjects Without (Silent) Agreement at the University of Konstanz. My PhD research examines null arguments and ellipsis in diachrony with a focus on (Brazilian) Portuguese and Turkic languages, supervised by George Walkden (main) and Maribel Romero.
Before starting my doctoral studies, I completed my MA degree in General Linguistics at the University of Konstanz. My MA thesis explored the syntax-semantics interface of say-subordination constructions that express reason and purpose relations in Turkish under the supervision of Maribel Romero (main) and George Walkden. Before that, I completed my BA degree in Linguistics at Boğaziçi University.
My broad research interests are issues in the syntax-semantics interface, historical syntax, morphosyntax, and linguistic typology.
My narrow research interests are syntax of null arguments and ellipsis, syntax-semantics of indexical shift and logophoricity in reason and purpose clauses, typology of say-complementation/subordination constructions, development of agreement markers.
